Glencolmcille Folk Village

Glencolmcille Folk Village

The curious visitor to Donegal can experience life as it was in this rural location in the 1700s, 1800s and 1900s. The thatched cottages are exact replicas of that era and they are furnished and equipped as they would have been back then. See how people lived, worked, cooked and entertained themselves and experience the warm welcome that characterises the people of Donegal.

The Glencolmcille Folk Village also has a craft shop where visitors can purchase beautiful, locally-produced knitwear, baskets, books, craft products, jams, chocolates and soaps. By visiting this folk village and purchasing from the craft shop you will be supporting local people and helping to keep them employed in their local area instead of having to leave and emigrate which has been a painful part of the area's history.

The folk village also has a tea-room where visitors can have snacks, home-made soups, breads and baked goods, tea and coffee.

Glencolmcille Folk Village is located on the R263 route, 54km west of Donegal town, a drive of approximately 55 minutes. Click the map pin icon to view the location on a map.
